As reported by Digital Trends , these glasses just got another update with software version 6.0, which is currently rolling out to users.  from Android Authority https://ift.tt/EgMr9e2 via IFTTT

Apple releases iOS 17.6 beta 1 to developers

Image
Credit: Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority iOS 17.6 beta 1 is now available to those enrolled in Apple’s developer program. While it’s currently unclear what iOS 17.6 beta 1 packs, there’s a high chance it primarily revolves around bug fixes and optimizations. The final iOS 17.6 release could become available to the general public sometime in July. Apple has seeded iOS 17.6 beta 1 to iPhone users who have joined its developer program. While the company has now shifted its attention to iOS 18 , it’s still polishing last year’s release before concluding its development. As a result, iOS 17.6 could be a minor update that mainly involves fixing leftover bugs and optimizing the overall performance. What’s new in iOS 17.6 beta So far, we haven’t spotted any significant new changes or features in iOS 17.6 beta 1. This is totally expected as the OS cycle is approaching its end. So, this version may not pack anything beyond under-the-hood bug fixes and security patches. For refe

Detailed spec sheet leak confirms two key upgrades coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 6

Image
Credit: Ryan Haines / Android Authority An alleged official spec sheet of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 has leaked. The specs point to a battery and camera upgrade. The rest of the specs are mostly unchanged from the Z Flip 5. We just got our hands on the everything there is to know about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 , and it seems like the smaller Samsung foldable isn’t wanting to be left behind.   Smartprix has outed a seemingly official spec sheet of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 , giving us a fairly good idea of what to expect from Samsung’s 2024 flip phone. If the leak is accurate, Samsung is addressing two major areas with the Galaxy Z Flip 6. First, the phone might come with a larger 4,000mAh battery, up from the 3,700mAh battery in the Z Flip 5. . This should address one of the biggest complaints about the previous model. There’s no mention of charging speed in the leaked info, but it’s likely to remain capped at 25 Watts. from Android Authority https://ift.tt/BV7RSXG via IFTT

Android 15 takes killing an app to the next level

Image
Credit: Ryan Haines / Android Authority Android 15 will disable the home screen widget of any app that you kill. This prevents the app from effectively still running when you’re attempting to force-stop it. The widget will be grayed out and won’t start again until you relaunch the app. A last resort when an app is playing up is to kill it by hitting Force Stop on the app management screen. While that terminates the app and its background activities, it doesn’t currently disable any home screen widget that the app might have. Android 15 will reportedly disable the widget of a killed app until you manually launch it again. As spotted by  Android Police , Google has updated the behavior changes section of its Android 15 developer website to indicate that when an app is force-stopped, all its widgets are temporarily disabled as the OS terminates or cancels the app’s pending intents. The widgets will also be grayed out on the home screen and won’t restart until you manual

Evidence suggests Google scaled back AI Overview search results compared to original rollout

Image
Credit: C. Scott Brown / Android Authority Third-party analytics data suggests Google’s AI Overview results in Search were significantly scaled back after the original rollout. Allegedly, these results may have dropped from 27% of queries to just 11% of them. Interestingly, this drop happened before word started to spread about the terrible results AI Overview was providing to users. At this point, pretty much everyone reading this is likely familiar with Google’s AI Overview system built into Google Search. Unfortunately, you probably know about it for reasons Google did not anticipate, namely for hilarious examples of terrible answers provided by AI to users spreading across the internet like wildfire. Examples included encouraging people to drink urine, eat at least one small rock each day, and put glue on pizza. Now, according to a third-party analytics firm called BrightEdge (via  WIRED ), we have an idea of how Google has changed its AI Overview after its initia

Image
Credit: Robert Triggs / Android Authority Update: June 4, 2024 (1:13 PM ET): We have updated our iPhone 16 series rumor hub with a rumor regarding the bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple’s iPhone 15 series came out in September 2023. Now that the hype for those has died down, we’re moving on to the 2024 models — and there are already plenty of iPhone 16 rumors and leaks going around. Apple made some significant changes to the 2023 iPhone lineup, including the addition of USB-C, the mute-switch-replacing Action Button, Titanium bodies instead of Stainless Steel, Dynamic Island on the non-Pro iPhones, a periscope camera for the Pro Max model, and more. If you’ve been following Apple long enough, you’d know that most of these new features from the iPhone 15 series would most certainly be coming to iPhone 16 models. Additionally, what’s exclusive to the 2023 Pros would likely trickle down to the non-Pro variants this year. Keeping all that in mind, here’s what you can expect fro

Google sunsets another service, this time impacting businesses

Image
Credit: Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority Google is shutting down its Business Profile chat feature on July 31, 2024. Customers won’t be able to start new chats after July 15, but ongoing conversations can continue until July 31. Businesses can download their chat and call history through Google Takeout before the deadline. Google is bidding farewell to yet another of its services, this time to Google Business Messaging. This decision marks the end of an often overlooked messaging service integrated into Google Maps and Search, adding another tombstone to Google’s growing graveyard of abandoned products . (h/t: Search Engine Land ) The service, known somewhat interchangeably as “Google Business Messaging” and “Google Business Profile Chat,” allowed customers to initiate conversations with businesses directly through their Google Maps or Search listings. This provided a convenient channel for customer service inquiries and other interactions. from Android Authority

Instagram’s latest feature has users considering leaving the platform for good

Image
Credit: Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority Instagram has introduced “Ad Breaks,” unskippable ads that interrupt users’ browsing sessions. The feature appears to be in a testing phase, but negative feedback is already widespread on social media. Instagram has recently begun testing a new feature called “Ad Breaks.” These unskippable ads interrupt the user’s browsing experience, requiring them to view an advertisement for at least 3-5 seconds before they can continue scrolling through their feed. Meta , the company behind Facebook and Instagram, has always relied on ads to keep the lights on. You know those personalized ads that seem to know exactly what you’re interested in? That’s Meta’s bread and butter. Lately, however, it has been facing some challenges, like stricter privacy rules and the rise of TikTok. So, it’s trying out different things to make more money, like in-app purchases, subscriptions, and now, these unskippable Ad Breaks. from Android Authority http

According to benchmark test results posted by Rozetked , the Tensor G4 sports an 8-core configuration: one Cortex-X4 running at 3.1 GHz, three Cotrex-A720 at 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 at 1.95 GHz.
